I am Jason Heeres, a native Michigander. A behind the scenes nerd if you will.

Over 15 years of News photojournalism has taken me lots of places. From covering Final Fours, College Playoffs, Kentucky Derby's, and many breaking news events.

I graduated from Ferris State University in the Television and Digital Media Production department.

As a news photojournalist I see people at the worst times in their life and the happiest.

But most of all I am a storyteller. Telling stories of people of all types.

This job takes me behind-the-scenes of places many people don't get to.

A documentarian if you will. Capturing moments in time, both with sound and video.

I can tell a story with sequencing, composition and lighting elements.

As well as writing and sound techniques.

My job allows me to write, produce and create stories on the web both written and visual.

Breaking News has always given me adrenaline, and when put into those situations, I am always able to work under heavy pressure.

A huge passion of mine is timelapse photography. Being able to capture a long time compressed down into a short video delights me.

Time-lapse videography gives the feeling of perspective, and showing how time can be slow but also be so quick.

Still photography is also a passion, capturing moments in time, either on a wide scale or close up.
